I’m yet to find a product that performs similarly to Tatcha’s Luminous Dewy Skin Mist. When I was first introduced to this, I mistook it for a face toner, but after a couple of uses, I understood that calling this product a “toner” is not quite right. It’s really a liquid moisturizer, and as such, is not meant to be used as a toner. When it comes to the actual usage, it’s closer to a face moisturizer than it is to a toner.
The texture is also thicker, and is quite heavy duty performance wise. Tatcha’s description of “milky emulsion containing moisturizers and humectants that leaves skin rehydrated” is 100% spot on. You might argue that toners moisturize and leave skin hydrated, but until you try this particular product, you might not fully comprehend the difference between the two. I don’t like to overload my skin with too many layers of oils and moisturizers (else I’ll break out), so whenever my skin feels like it needs a little extra moisture, I spray on 2-3 pumps right after my face oil. I gently pat with my hand and spread the mist all over my face or just on those areas that feel dry. This skin mist is a god sent during the winters when my skin starts feeling stretchy after a couple of hours due to the indoor heaters. I have to be honest, at $48 for 1.35 oz, this is not the cheapest product on the product, but it will last a really long time if you have normal to combination skin like me and need some extra moisture sparingly. For those of you who like another layer of moisture after you face oil, try replacing your face moisturizer with this skin mist. This is lighter than a moisturizer, yet extremely hydrating.
My favorite method of using this is as a final seal during traveling. I always carry a bottle and drench my face with this right before I hop on to the plane. The trick is to spray it on BEFORE you hop on so your skin has adequate time to absorb the goodness (and not when you’re already sitting in the plane). I know there are numerous blog posts and articles advising us to continuously spray face toners during flying to combat the dry air, but face toners just don’t work for me when I’m traveling. Most toners have water or aloe vera juice as the main ingredient % wise – so it evaporates really quickly when I spray it on. Such a waste. I do use toners regularly, but I don’t feel like they adequately moisturize at 35,000 ft in flight. In fact, my face feels dryer. Since I’m not brave enough to put on a sheet mask in a flight, this skin mist’s heavier, milky texture really comes to my rescue. I apply a couple of extra drops of face oil, and then spray 3-4 pumps (a couple of pumps extra) of the mist. This leaves my skin dewy, super hydrated, and radiant. I feel like it creates a shield and prevents my skin from getting dehydrated. I’ve tested this theory several times and I’m fully confident that one of the main reason I don’t break out anymore post-travel is because of Tatcha’s Luminous Dewy Skin Mist.
Tatcha has its annual Friends and Family Sale (20% discount) until Dec 8th, and I highly recommend that you buy a bottle.
